The heart of Kojiki (3) 2017/04/15

There are so many Gods introduced in Kojiki.

In Japan, God is not sole but 8 millions Gods exist. Some God appears as a mountain, as a river, as a stone, as a wood or as an animal and so on. God appears in 8 millions variations.

These Gods appreciate each God’s role and performance. God is not free from errors and moreover some Gods repeat errors. Sometime Gods are not confident or not able to have a final decision. Then, they have a meeting among Gods and make a decision after democratic discussion.

Moreover there is no clear borderline between God and human. God is something great who has an extra ordinary ability in some field but not almighty.

Izanagino Mikoto, father of Amaterasu Omikami, the founder of Royal family, and Susanoono Mikoto, younger brother of Amaterasu Omikami, are very important and distinguished Gods but they made errors repeatedly. Whenever they made errors, they had their personal interest or desire. However they studied from the error and abandoned their personal interest and returned to original state.

Kojiki tells us that original natures of Gods and human are fundamentally good. However when they have personal interest, their natures turn into evil.

When we are in normal good condition, we can see truths as they are, however when our hearts are covered by personal interests, we lose our ability to see things as they are, and things may appear in evil figures.

Therefore It is most important in Shintou(Japanese local religion) to exorcize our personal interests which cause evil errors, so that we can see things as they are.
