The first female Emperor in the history of 125th generations

The 33rd Emperor, Suiko ( at reign in 593- 628) is the first female Emperor in the long Royal family history of 125th generations. Her father is the son of Keitai and became 29th Emperor. Her elder and younger half brother both became 31st and 32nd Emperor. She married with another elder half brother who made himself 30th Emperor. She was grown up and lived in the center of Royal family.

Her younger half brother, 32nd Emperor Sushun was killed by the vassal family Soga. Suiko made herself 33rd Emperor among the turbulence of powers. Her mother was from Soga family and she well controlled the balance between Royal and Soga family after she took the power.

Her nephew is the famous prince Shoutokutaishi (574-622) who left many familiar legends and has been the most popular and honorable prince among public. The aunt and nephew cooperated each other and did great jobs as under.

To establish modern bureaucracy,

To announce 17th articles constitution which tells the importance of harmony and mental preparation for officials,

To introduce widely and passionately Buddhism among public,

To establish equal diplomatic relation with Sui dynasty (then China),

And so on.

 

There are 8 female Emperors in 125th generations. Suiko is the first and probably the most successful female Emperor.
